Describing the Tour
The Safari Float Arenal Costa Rica on the Rio Peñas Blancas is the ideal rainforest river float for those looking for a very peaceful encounter with wildlife that abounds along the Peñas Blancas river in northern Costa Rica.
A professional bilingual naturalist guide will assist you as you paddle along a smooth, class-1 river and explains about the various plants and animals of this nature filled area of Costa Rica.
The Peñas Blancas river begins in the Tilaran mountains from a small area receiving some five meters of rain per year.
Take in the wonderful sights and sounds of the Costa Rica's northern rain forest and experience its peacefulness as you quietly paddle the gentle Peñas Blancas river.
Your boat is paddle powered, allowing you to enjoy the splendid sounds of nature, and given you great opportunities for photo taking. You will be accompanied by an experienced naturalist guide who will explain many fascinating details about the trees, plants, birds and animals.
Animals regularly spotted on the Safari Float tour include: monkeys, sloths, iguanas, crocodiles and caimans, plus a large variety of species of tropical birds such as the Sunbittern, keel-billed toucan, herons, kingfishers and our favorite the Montezuma Oropendula.
This half-day Safari Float tour is a must for photographers!
You'll spend 1-2 hours on the river depending on the number of animals you spot.
There will be bathrooms and changing areas at both 'put in' to the river and 'take out'. They are private and safe.
